Cecily / Hula dance


Ms. Chow is a professional artist who performs and works internationally. Her educational background in Polynesian dance spans over 30 years, her design and technical production experience covers over 20 years with events including concerts, theatre, presentations for professional arts and corporate clientele.

A partial list of her classes, competition companies and performance companies have been with Nelani Rogers' Polynesian Dance Troupe, SF; Tiare Clifford's, Tiare Otea, SF; Spririt of Polynesia, Dance Company, SF; Ray Moki Engler, Moemoea Polynesia and Sacred Island Companies, SF; Lily Cai Chinese Performing Arts Company, SF; Urban Bones Dance Company, Bangkok; Polynesian Dance at Bangkok 43 Club Studios, Cala Dance Studios, Bangkok, Zoom Dance studio.

Classes in Ballet, Modern, various ethnic dance have added to her education and performance activities.

Ms. Chow has directed and taught classes and workshops to students of all ages and groups, in Bangkok, the San Francisco Bay Area and abroad.

With energy, enthusiasm, and expertise she's been much in demand in many aspects of production. Her commitment is to enrich her audiences and students with classes and programs that entertain and educate.

(another Bio for Young Imagination Org) CECILY CHOW, Multicultural Dance Specialist, began her training in Polynesian dance at the age of eight. Classes in ballet, Chinese contemporary and folk dance, Filipino dance, American jazz and modern, Cuban, Russian, and Haitian dance have added to her repertoire of performance and teaching activities. Dancing in a number of award winning and popular groups, (Tiare Otea, Spirit of Polynesia, Moemoea Polynesia, Sacred Island, Voyage Pacifica, Touch of Polynesia, Manuia) Cecily has performed at Bay Area ethnic dance festivals, competitions, and parades. She also performed for several years with the Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company. With Young Imaginations, Cecily enjoys teaching workshops and classes for students of all ages, from 2-year- old children to senior citizens. For example, in a unit known as Dancing Around the Pacific Islands, children visit Polynesian cultures of Samoa, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Tahiti.

LIGHTING

Ms Chow works with international, professional and local performing arts groups, here and abroad. Since her move to Bangkok, she has been technical director/coordinator, lighting designer for many productions including International Dance Festival '07-'12 at Benjisiri Park , Central World, BACC, Bangkok Fringe Festival '08 –'09 and 'Vagina Monologues' at Patravadi Theatre, 'Four Seasons Show'- Tango Performance at Aksra Theatre, Int'l and Local Dance performance, Main Theatre at Thailand Cultural Center, and Die Fledermaus Operetta, Small Theatre at the Thailand Cultural Center.

Born and raised in San Francisco, California, she enjoys working on creative projects in the performance arts, mixing art and technology. Her clients have been professional performing arts companies, artists, corporate groups, and art organizations; with them she has worked internationally, nationally and extensively in California. A partial list of venues and clients she has worked with are: Asian American Arts Foundation: "Golden Ring" Awards at Davies Symphony Hall, San Francisco; California Contemporary Dance Co. – India tour; Lily Cai Chinese Performing Arts – Pacific Northwest tour; Manuia Polynesian Dance Co- Tahiti Fete competitions; Donald Pippins Pocket Opera season, and Golden Gate Opera at the Legion of Honor; Childrens Theatre Association at the Fine Arts Museum Theatres of San Francisco; SF Chamber Orchestra at Herbst Theatre, San Francisco.
